What are we looking for??

For Dream Seeding, for Compassionate Communities All Ages Art Show in March 2010, we seek images, ideas and experiences that somehow implant the notion that another, more beautiful world is actually possible.

We encourage contributions from people from any age and place, from any level of artistic sophistication.

We seek creative pieces that, in any way imaginable, offer either an idea into what a more peaceful and balanced community/world might look like or offer some insight about how to create such a world.

Within this starting point, we seek as broad as an interpretation as possible, with contributions from a variety of artistic media (drawings, paintings, digital images, fiber art, sculpture, mixed media, installations, video, music, performance, creative writing, who knows else?) and even other “non-art” disciplines.

These works can be abstract or explicit. They can show sorrow or struggle, but then must be compassionate and offer some hope or insight. If the artists and designers sincerely feel their work is in the spirit of Dream Seeding, we probably wanna see it–and show it!

Just to get the ideas flowing, here’s a few suggestions of potential “dream seeds”

~~Art that shows any social, political, or spiritual vision of a more compassionate, healthy, just, kind, wise, and ecologically balanced community or world

~~Images and documentation of any number of different movements for social justice, peace, nonviolence, protection of biodiversity, renewable energy, organic & local agriculture, critical education, egalitarian communities, cooperative economics, grass-roots democracy, feminism, critical education and much more

~~Art with themes of compassion, cooperation, interdependence, linking the heart and head, balance, healing, empowerment, dreaming a new reality into existence, mandalas and various forms of visual prayers for peace and healing
