¡Hola Friends!

We are still looking far & wide for artists and teachers who can contribute their creative work for Dream Seeding for Changing Realities All Ages Art Show in March.

I also just wanted to let folks know about our forming community art, project a series of “dream clouds,” large, medium, & small paper clouds that we will be collaging and decorating to be “dreams” of a more compassionate culture & beautiful world.

We still be starting this multi-piece project at the fun, free Ann Arbor Reskilling Festival, an all day festival of classes on such things as sewing, cooking, puppetry, permaculture, & more, on this Saturday February 5th from 12-3. See http://a2reskill.blogspot.com/ for all the details of the Festival!

After this, the “dream clouds” project will be continued by a group of young artists at the Ann Arbor Learning Community, an alternative K-8 school before we show it in our Dream Seeding for Changing Realities All Ages Art Show in March. And maybe elsewhere as well…

We welcome co-creators at any stage of this project, including this Friday evening February 4th, where we will be preparing the clouds for the

Festival (and maybe addressing postcards & making home made play dough) while enjoying refreshments at our house in Ann Arbor!

Please get in touch, if you are interested/able!

More to come!

Thanks a lot!

Organizing large community art shows takes the combined efforts of many dozens of people and organizations.  So we wish to thank our co-sponsors for their gracious support, as well as for their great and many contributions to our community!

Crazy Wisdom Bookstore & Tearoom

Crazy Wisdom is Ann Arbor’s premier local bookstore “about consciousness” with titles spanning a world of spiritualities, holistic health, the greening of society, and more, as well as a tearoom with about 100 kinds of tea, that hosts free live music 2 or 3 nights a week, poetry, lectures, and discussion, and a community room for more kinds of classes and meetings.  Crazy Wisdom also publishes the inspiring informative and free Crazy Wisdom Community Journal, with articles, interviews, and listings for hundreds of local “body-mind-spirit” events in every issue.  We thank Crazy Wisdom for supporting each of our Dream Seeding shows, 2007, 2009, 2010, & 2011!

Michigan Peaceworks

Michigan Peaceworks is an Ann Arbor-based grass-roots organization dedicated to peace, democracy, civil rights, and civil liberties.  Michigan Peaceworks has been organizing demonstrations, workshops, and other events, and training young people on how to do the same, to mobilize for peace.  We are very happy to have the support of Michigan Peaceworks!

Debs House

Eugene V. Debs Cooperative House is an Ann Arbor vegetarian student co-op, with a long history of supporting the activist, artistic and musical projects of its members.  Debs House has been the site of many “art parties” and community art projects, and has supported every Dream Seeding show.  Thanks, Debsters!!

Dream Seeding for Compassionate Communities All Ages Art Show ran in the Michigan Union in Ann Arbor, Michigan in March 2010!

We had over 70 works of art from children, teens & adults from around the state.

Twins Mandala by 2nd grade students from Brighton, Mich., courtesy of teacher Tracey Flanigan.

“Goat on Cochane Street” by artist Dennis Sabatowich, made from scrap metal he finds around Detroit.

Ann Arbor teacher Marissa Kowalczuk had her middle school students make diptychs envisioning collective problems, and their ideas for solutions.

“Growing Teachers” is an ode to school gardens springing up around the state, created by Christopher Bednash & the lovable rascals of Dream Seeding co-sponsor, Debs Co-op.

“Cry Yourself Awake” woodblock print by Sarah Ross.

On the first day of Spring, we held a reception with food, storytelling, music from Laz of the longtime children’s folk duo Gemini & friends, and a lot of dancing!

We hope to show the rest of Dream Seeding for Compassionate Communities in a virtual gallery like we have for 2009′s show, but have encountered technical glitches, so far….

In the meantime, almost the entire show is viewable on our Dream Seeding for a Better World page on Facebook.

Many thanks to everyone who helped make Dream Seeding happen again!!

More to come!
