Dream Seeding for Compassionate Communities

Dream Seeding, for

Compassionate Communities All

Ages Art Show

Ann Arbor~March 2010

We are seeking art in any media, from any age, from any level of technical sophistication –as long as it in SOME way touches on the themes of the show. The artist must feel that the work, in any conceivable way, offers a vision of a more peaceful, socially just, or ecologically healthy community or world, or offer some suggestion as how to move toward such a world.

Please see also “What we are looking” if you want more thoughts about what we seek.

Multiple submissions per artist are encouraged, space permitting.

If you want to participate in Dream Seeding, for Compassionate Communities, please send us an email or letter about who you are and what work you’d like to submit.

To insure art for the show, artists (parents or teachers) must register by February 14th, 2010. To register we need:

1. Name, address, phone number/email of each artist (or teacher and school)

2. Title of each work

3. Medium of each work

4. Approx. dimensions of the work

5. Approx. value of the materials of the piece (for insurance purposes only–this is not the asking price.  We cannot sell items directly from the show.  If anyone inquires about buying work after the show, we will certainly let the artist know)

6. Image of each piece (digital preferred, if possible; “work in progress” pictures may be acceptable for work being created and finished by March 1st)

Some art may be accepted after the registration deadline, if possible.

Most art will be dropped off directly to the Michigan Union (530 S. State Street, Ann Arbor) on March 1st, 2010.

If necessary, before March 1st artwork can mailed or dropped off to:

Dream Seeding Art Show, c/o Eugene V. Debs Co-op, 909 E. University Ave., Ann Arbor, MI 48104

**We strongly encourage artists to write some kind of artist’s statement. These can be either long or short and either for each piece or the artist’s work in general.   Most statements will need to be submitted by March 1st, so we can print them out for posting.  Participants can bring their own statements for display as well.

We are seeking as many dream seeds from as many different folks as possible. Let us help you to find a way to offer YOUR dream seed….

Other ways to help Dream Seeding:

We are currently looking for a possible 2nd venue for Dream Seeding for after March 2010. If you or your organization knows of an exhibition space that may wish to host Dream Seeding, please contact us!

We are seeking volunteers to spread the word about this project far and wide, to help us find artists to participate, to help set up the art show and opening reception, to help do web design, to make donations, and more.

There are many ways you or your organization can support Dream Seeding, for Compassionate Communities, but the most important way you can participate is to stay compassionate and tap your creativity to help us all to see a better world can be brought forth!
